Sinopsis

Sebuah rekuiem untuk zaman digital kita, penyair Tiongkok Xu Lizhi (1990 – 2014) menulis tentang kehidupan para pembuat komponen elektronik di lini perakitan di Shenzhen, Tiongkok. Kuat, menghantui, menyayat hati, kata-kata Xu menyuarakan nasib jutaan pekerja di seluruh dunia yang keberadaannya sering dilupakan.

Diciptakan dan dibawakan oleh Njo Kong Kie – mantan direktur musik kelompok tari terkenal La La La Human Steps (Kanada) – I Swallowed a Moon Made of Iron melintasi teater, musik, lagu, dan puisi untuk memberi penghormatan kepada Xu Lizhi dan banyak lagi yang tak terhitung jumlahnya, yang perjuangannya tak terlihat namun memberi kemudahan bagi kehidupan digital kita sehari-hari.

Synopsis (English Version)

A requiem for our digital age, the Chinese poet Xu Lizhi (1990 – 2014) writes about life making electronic parts on an assembly line in Shenzhen, China. Powerful, haunting and gut wrenching, Xu’s words give voice to millions of workers around the globe whose existence is often forgotten.

Created and performed by Njo Kong Kie – former music director of the renowned dance company La La La Human Steps (Canada) – I Swallowed a Moon Made of Iron traverses theatre, music, song and poetry in paying tribute to Xu Lizhi and countless others whose unseen struggles provide the amenities of our everyday digital lives.
