Sinopsis

Synopsis

Further, Higher, Faster_A boring accelerating city (2017) is a work in which the body’s kinetic movements bend, twist, or ripple the sense of space. This work translates the maxim of track and field—further, higher, and faster—into narratives of distance, depth, and velocity using a three-dimensional coordinate system—a spatial chart marked by x, y, and z axes. Premiered in 2017, Further, Higher, Faster_A boring accelerating city is renewed and reintroduced six years later, in 2023, as Further, Higher, Faster_A boring accelerating city. The motions of running on a rectangular track in Seoul are twisted and converged into the square confines of the Jakarta Salihara Theater. The many boundaries and phenomena emerging from the displacement, expansion, distortion, and disruption of the motions may have initially channeled track and field—or the performance of track and field (as demonstrated in the earlier iteration of the work). Nevertheless, they continue to grow and accelerate, albeit “boringly,” in today’s urban space and time.

Further, Higher, Faster_A boring accelerating city, 2023
Hyeongjun Cho and Minsun Son, primarily a choreographer and an architect, create work based on their interest in space. They experiment with the space, choreography, and phenomena that emerge when bodies or objects are arranged in particular spatial contexts. Based on this, they strive to construct organized settings or systems that operate based on the structure of time.
